Boom or Bust for Pakistani Cricketers

The recently concluded PSL at Dubai/Sharjah was a success. Yes it attracted may foreign cricketers who demonstrated their skills and may have added to the confidence level of young cricketers. The purpose of this stage was to provide advance training for younger Pakistani cricketers, under the influence of great cricketing legends like Viv Richard, Dean Jones and Wasim Akram, but the performance was of Pakistani cricketers still lacked significant growth.
According to Kamran Abbasi: the tournament had its flaws but it also had great potential to boost the country’s game in many ways. We witnessed some phenomenal performance by Sharjeel Khan, Ahmed Shehzad in the batting department and great all round performance by the youngster Muhammad Nawaz. In the fielding arena Pakistani fielders dropped many catches which changed the outcome of the game. The fielding is going to be a major challenge in future if Pakistan has a chance to become the future T20 Champions.

The next PSL will have to learn from the past mistake, provide chances to younger cricketers and reduce any management issues for greater success. Umar Akmal and Muhammad Sami proved their worth and should now be a part of the T20 national team.
In the final match it was the superb batting of Dwane Smith of West Indies and Brad Haddin of Australia which gave Islamabad an easy win over Quetta Gladiators. One of the weakest sides in the tournament became very powerful because of international cricketers. The lesson learnt is that Pakistani cricketers have to perform better in their home ground Dubai or Sharjah. If Pakistan has to outshine other cricketing nations, hard work and consistence should be their order of the day.
